The name of the small Charente town of Cognac is known throughout the world. François I and Jean Monnet, both born in the town, had little to do with it. The international fame of Cognac is obviously due to this alcoholic beverage, otherwise known as the "liquor of the gods". Pedestrian routes highlight the urban heritage through two themes: the King's route and the Belle Époque route. In the cobbled streets, you can see the sculpted pediments of private mansions, old dwellings and the signs of a shop. The Place François Ier offers a "royal" setting with terraces and restaurants. Departure point for hikes.
