The commune, Merged with Thiverval and Grignon, historically belongs to the territory of "Val de Gally", in the plain of Versailles and along the Marly forest. The strengths of its heritage are the Saint Martin Church of Thiverval, the castle of Grignon, and - more contemporary - the National Agronomic Institute Paris-Grignon. The fragments of cut bricks, axes, scrapers and arrows, found in the vicinity, remember that Thiverval had been inhabited for millennia. The Gallo-Roman era left its mark in places with underground chambers containing pottery fragments, and coins. The village was erected in the xie century parish. The Poissy chapter then owned land. In the twelfth century, the construction of the present church, whose beauty bears witness to the importance of the village, began. In the sixteenth century, Grignon lands were bought by François I, who donated it to his mistress Diane of Poitiers; in the seventeenth century Grignon was raised in marquisat. The municipality, relatively young, has 1,100 inhabitants.
