In the Middle Ages, Feucherolles was a royal estate. Around the 11th century, a castle was built here, where the marriage of King Jean II le Bon to Jeanne d'Auvergne was celebrated in 1350. Known as Château de Sainte-Gemme, it was renamed "Saint James" by the English during the Hundred Years' War. In 1818, Feucherolles became part of the commune of Lanluet-Sainte-Gemme. Today, the town is primarily residential. There are also a number of independent craftsmen and service-sector companies. More traditionally, Feucherolles has extensive farmland, cultivated by market gardeners and nurserymen.
