This town of barely 2 000 inhabitants, situated on a hillside on the banks of the Seine, is part of the Regional Natural Park of the French Véxin. In the th century, Mézy built a fortification to defend Meulan against invasions. It became the stronghold of the Viscount of Meulan until the th century and obtained parish status. In modern times, illustrious characters lived like the painter Berthe Morisot, the designer Paul Poiret, actress Elvire Popesco and others involved such as Jean Jaurès or the writer Châteaubriand.
