Located in the Hautil massif, which occupies more than half of its territory, Evecquemont has been part of the Parc naturel régional du Vexin français since 2007. In the Middle Ages, the village was known as Aviscus mons - "the bird mountain". A reference to its hilltop location and the presence of migratory birds. Although the village was populated by winegrowers until the 19th century, plaster stone quarrying took off in the 20th century. The two main streets are named after two women of importance to the village: the Comtesse d'Adhémar and her niece, Madame de Chollet.
