Overlooking the valley of the Seine, Paul Poiret's villa was built 90 years ago by architect Mallet-Stevens - at the top of his art at that time - on the hills of Mézy. The illustrious couturier, in a boat ride, said, was amazed at the splendour and magnetism of the place. Considered typical of the modern architecture of the years 1920-1930, the villa remained unfinished for almost 15 years. Indeed, abandoned in 1925, it was the actress Elvire Popesco who acquired it five years later, entrusting the works to architect Paul Boyer to make her habitable. It introduces an amazing "liner" touch by installing large windows around the house. Classified as a historic monument years ago, however, it can only be accessed exceptionally during the heritage days. For the story, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Alain La were seen in the film during the filming of the film. Director Leos Carax also chose to turn the first scenes of his Holy Motors film (2012) into the décor of Villa Poiret. It also appears in 96 hours of Frédéric Schoendoerffer (2014) and the comedy A family to rent (2015) made by Jean-Pierre Améris. Moreover, the villa, which was sold in 2016 after having seen a succession of owners, was acquired by the businessman Gilbert Wahnich, who does not exclude the idea of making it a foundation.
