In Lavatoggio, you'll be following in the footsteps of the Savelli brothers, self-proclaimed lords of Barcaghju. The village is built below the Col de Salvi (509 m), which separates it from the commune of Montegrosso. The foundations of the lord of Barcaghju's castle, perched at an altitude of 556 metres, are still visible. Don't miss the washhouse beneath the church, the Romanesque San-Cervone chapel in the cemetery, originally a medieval village that no longer exists, the baroque Saint-Laurent parish church in the heart of the village or the Notre-Dame de la Stella chapel at the foot of Mount Barcaghju, at the crossroads between Occi, Lumio and Lavatoggio.
