A small fishing port, Algajola is a lively village, with numerous shops, hotels and restaurants, but still a long way from the hustle and bustle of Calvi. Take the time to enter the heart of the village, stroll through the narrow streets and wait for the sun to set on the castle square. You'll find a little country station where you can take the winding micheline that winds its way along the coast. For a long time, Algajola was an advanced Genoese position in front of Calvi. The beach at Algajola is renowned for its surfing, and it was here that kitesurfing was launched on the island. For the more adventurous, there's the San-Damiano cove to the north-west of the village.
