Propriano(Prupià in Corsican), the main port on the Gulf of Valinco, is a relatively modern town. The hamlet of Tivolaggio on the heights of the gulf retains some traces of ancient occupation, such as a few old houses, a mill and a small church. Further on, you can see the ruins of the Santa-Maria-di-Tavaria abbey, which was destroyed during the barbarian raids of the 16th century. Portigiolo and Baracci are two of the most beautiful beaches on the island. The town is an excellent starting point for discovering a hinterland rich in history through the splendid countryside with its magical lights that stretches out all around.
