The site of Rorschwihr was occupied as early as Roman times. Its name comes from the name "Chrodoldeswillare" (translate Chrodold farm). At the end of the 13th century, Rorschwihr became the property of the Lords of Ribeaupierre, before being ceded to the Habsburgs. Among its remarkable monuments are the church of Saint-Michel (1837) with a 13th century vaulted bell-tower-choir, and the Meyerhof, a former abbey property from the 12th century. However, Rorschwihr is above all renowned for its vineyard run by skilled winegrowers who take advantage of an exceptional mesoclimate characterised by low rainfall and very mild temperatures.
