An essential stopover on the Alsace Wine Route and the Véloroute (EuroVelo5), Andlau owes its name to a small river that rises in the Vosges near Champ du Feu. The town's emblem is a bear, which can be seen on many wells and fountains, as well as in the abbey. Consecrated in 1049 by Pope Leo IX, the abbey church of Sainte-Richarde is a landmark of Romanesque art in Alsace. Andlau is distinguished by its narrow streets lined with carefully preserved typical houses. In addition to discovering winegrowers as passionate as they are renowned, a visit to La Seigneurie, a place dedicated to the history of the Pays de Barr, is a must.
