The charming wine-growing town of Obernai enjoyed its golden age in the 16th century. Since the 1960s, the town has enjoyed an impressive economic and tourist boom. It still boasts some magnificent buildings, portals and remarkable monuments, but you can also appreciate the atmosphere of its alleyways and backyards. Encircling the old part of the town, the venerable ramparts invite you to take a stroll in any season. Most of their thirty-eight towers are still standing, although some have been integrated into residential buildings. The Place du Marché has undeniably retained its soul as the medieval heart of the city.
