In 1340, the village was granted town status and its ramparts were built. The Thirty Years' War devastated the village, which had been enjoying a period of prosperity. In the 19th century, Boersch shone thanks to the Klingenthal arms factory, before becoming, at the beginning of the 20th century, a first-rate cultural center with the collegiate church of Saint-Léonard, at the foot of Mont Sainte-Odile. Today, it is still home to the Spindler inlay factory. This charming village has preserved its 16th-century mansions, a superb Renaissance well and three beautiful gates, one of which opens onto the Chemin de Ronde, the starting point for a stroll.
