The name Klingenthal means "valley of tears". Yet it's a charming hamlet just outside Ottrott. It's a great place to stay or just stroll around. Klingenthal is renowned among collectors for its former Royal Weapons Factory. Founded in the 18th century, the factory is no longer in operation, but a team of enthusiasts is on hand to show you around. Not far from there, on the way to Ottrott, a short tour of the Saint-Nabor quarries offers some beautiful walks. Other walks lead to the moving ruins of Niedermunster, the abbey founded by Saint Odile to accommodate pilgrims too weak to climb to the Hohenburg.
