Saverne has been an important stopover town since Roman times and has managed to preserve its history. Along the streets, beautiful Art Deco facades, half-timbered houses and Vosges sandstone monuments are offered to you. Among them, the Rohan castle and the Haut-Barr castle, nicknamed "the eye of Alsace", are the most illustrious testimonies of the local establishment of the bishops of Strasbourg. While strolling through the city, one can also discover an exceptional religious heritage: the cloister of the Récollets (1303) and the church of Notre-Dame-de-la-Nativité. Finally, Saverne is distinguished by its six gardens including a rose garden and a botanical garden.
