High castle with a beautiful view, a seigneurial dwelling and a Romanesque chapel constitute the vestiges of the original building

Château du Haut-Barr rises to an altitude of 470 metres. Perched on three rocky outcrops separated by a moat, it offers a fine panoramic view over the plain. First mentioned in 1123, it has undergone several alterations. The earthquake of 1356 caused its first damage. The Thirty Years' War was the final blow. What remains of the original building is a seigneurial dwelling and a Romanesque chapel. Today, access is via a Renaissance gateway built in 1583, which opens onto a small square just in front of the chapel.

Nous avons été déçus par le restaurant la haut. Service, accueil et déroulement du service ne valent pas 1 étoile. Et le patron et la patronne ne sont vraiment pas de belles personnes, loin de là.
Dommage car la vue est splendide, l'endroit est reposant....

Nous nous y sommes arrêtés en route pour découvrir l'Alsace. Bonne surprise, cela permet de faire une petite balade au cœur des ruines du château. D'autant que le site est gratuit. la vue en haut de l'édifice est super, surtout en automne où les arbres alentour étaient out en couleurs.
