The 4th arrondissement is on the plateau of La Croix-Rousse hill. It is known for its Croix-Rousse district, which is largely steeped in the history of canuts, the weavers who worked silk on weaving machines from the 16th to the 19th century. To pay tribute to these workers, the sculpture "Le Chant des Canuts" has been seeet on a square near the townhall. A statue representing Jacquard also reminds that it was him who invented the programmable mechanical loom named "Jacquard".You shall not miss among the emblematic places of the 4th arrondissement, Villa Gillet in Parc de la Cerisaie - a cultural institute where cultural events in a large sense are held regularly. As for the green spaces, the 4th arrondissement has an outstanding one: the Rosa Mir Garden which has the characteristic to have been set in the courtyard of a building. It is really original with various columns covered with shells.

What to visit Lyon?

When to go to Lyon?

Lyon, the third largest city in France, is alive all year round and has an incomparable architectural, cultural or religious wealth. No tourist season other than the one caused by school holidays. So you can come whenever you want! However, it is sometimes very hot in summer and very cold in winter. You should also know that magic works particularly during the Festival of Lights, an emblematic Lyon festival that makes the city shine from all sides, from small candles lit on the windowsills of private individuals to the sumptuous illuminations of the city. Pilgrimages are also an opportunity to climb the hill of Fourvière during religious festivities. The Nuits de Fourvière, in June and July, with multidisciplinary performances in ancient theatre, are also another incentive.
