The history of Yzeron has always been marked by its mountainous geography and the abundance of its springs. The Lords of Fontaneys and the Archbishops of Saint Martin d'Ainay built many notable buildings, most of which have disappeared. The only witness to this history is the hamlet of Chateauvieux, a former fiefdom where a group of old farms and a magnificent Romanesque chapel remain. Since the late 19th century, Yzeron is a point of attraction for tourists who appreciate the beauty of its landscapes, the purity of the air and the variety of walks. On May 1st, the frog festival attracts a large number of visitors.
