The 7th arrondissement is the largest in Lyon with a surface area of 975 hectares. It extends itself on the Rhône's alluvial plain between the river on its western part, the Gambetta river in the north, the commune of Saint-Fons in the south and the 8th arrondissement in the east. It is made up of two very different areas: La Guillotière, known for its social mix and Château de la Motte, on one hand, and the Gerland area on the other hand, where Halle Tony Garnier, a 500,000 m² tertiary park and, the Gerland stadium now dedicated to rugby are located. The 7th arrondissement is also its Chinatown district, the 3rd largest in France after the ones of Paris and Marne-la-Vallée; it is concentrated around Rue Passet, Rue d'Aguesseau and Rue Pasteur. Finally, it is in the 7th arrondissement that Blandan Park is located: a 17-hectare green space in the middle of the city that was created in 2014. This park is equipped with a 1700 m² skatepark and a 1000 m² children's playground. The green space is being expanded by an additional 3 hectares in 2019

What to visit Lyon?

When to go to Lyon?

Lyon, the third largest city in France, is alive all year round and has an incomparable architectural, cultural or religious wealth. No tourist season other than the one caused by school holidays. So you can come whenever you want! However, it is sometimes very hot in summer and very cold in winter. You should also know that magic works particularly during the Festival of Lights, an emblematic Lyon festival that makes the city shine from all sides, from small candles lit on the windowsills of private individuals to the sumptuous illuminations of the city. Pilgrimages are also an opportunity to climb the hill of Fourvière during religious festivities. The Nuits de Fourvière, in June and July, with multidisciplinary performances in ancient theatre, are also another incentive.
