Ampuis is famous for its hillsides where the vine gives the côte-rôtie wines. It is possible that the word vine, from the Greek "ampelos" is the origin of the name of the commune. Since Roman times, the vine has been growing on the hillsides. The belvederes offer an exceptional panorama of the terraced vineyards. The marked paths, including the "Sentier des Vignes" in the heart of the vineyard, provide an opportunity for beautiful walks. The 19th century church which preserves in its apse, a beautiful set of stalls from the 16th century whose mercies are decorated with masks. International event not to be missed: the Wine Fair in January.
