On the borders of several departments (Ardèche, Loire, Isère and Rhône), at the bottom of a green valley, Bourg-Argental is a pleasant village in the Parc du Pilat which has managed to preserve its historical and natural heritage. An essentially medieval past. Some of the buildings in the town centre date from the 12th century and the châtelet which houses the Tourist Office was built on a defence tower in the old part of the town. This was an industrial past when the town experienced the boom in silk weaving in the 19th century. But Bourg-Argental, a dynamic commune, has not shut itself away in its past. A lively and attractive town, it offers many points of interest, especially for holidaymakers who want to spend a peaceful stay, far from the hustle and bustle of the crowds, but active (hiking, outdoor sports...). In town, a discovery tour allows you to follow the traces of the past, including a visit to the church and its 12th century portal. In the Châtelet house itself, which has been perfectly restored, you can see an astonishing fern ceiling in the forézien style, which is totally unique.
