Clairac is a charming little town on the banks of the Lot. A former bastion of Protestantism, the motto inscribed on the Place Viçoze was "Ville sans Roy, Soldats sans peur". The Benedictines, who lived in the abbey, introduced the two main crops of the Lot-et-Garonne: the plum and the tobacco. Visit Clairac and you can admire this beautiful abbey. Free guided tours of the town are organised in summer by the Club Rencontres de Clairac. Reservations are recommended. Take advantage of the facilities on the banks of the river Lot with the nautical stop and its harbour master's office as well as the sandy beach where it is good to sunbathe.
