Known and appreciated by Edmond de Rostand, the town owes its name to the castle built by the lords of Albret, the Château du Jaloux. One of its lords was apparently animated by vile feelings! While visiting the old town, you will pass by Jeanne d'Albret's house. The corbelled houses will tell you about the not-so-distant past when horses reigned supreme in the streets and the Capuchins and other Cordeliers had a foothold in the town. Today, Casteljaloux is best known for its lake, a very pleasant place to swim and picnic, and above all its spa, which is open to all for your pleasure.
