CLOISTER OF THE CORDILLERAS
The association "Les Amis de Casteljaloux" puts its extensive knowledge of Casteljaloux's heritage at the service of an interesting guided tour.
Situated opposite the Tourist Office, the Franciscan convent has lived through several destinies. After being sacked during the Wars of Religion, it was rebuilt in the 17th century, then transformed into a hospice and then a hospital. This part of the building is now abandoned. The chapel, on the other hand, is well worth a visit, notably for the sculpted heads of the Lords of Albret adorning the stained glass windows, as well as for the statues of famous religious figures, such as Saint Vincent de Paul and Sister Catherine Labouré, to whom we owe the miraculous medal of the Virgin Mary.
