Espeyrac, a village on the Way of Saint James, is situated on a rocky promontory at an altitude of 400 m and overlooks the Daze valley. Its name comes from the Gallo-Roman domain known as Spariacus, which was once established there. In addition to a building with a turret, remains of the castle of the lords of Espeyrac and a church which in the 15th century replaced another fortress, its heritage includes a fountain whose water is said to cure rheumatism, a mill, a washhouse, a bridge and a Gallic path. If the cartulary of the abbey of Conques mentions the village in the 11th century, its fame is also based on Witbert l'Illuminé, a character from the Book of Miracles of Saint Foy.
