To discover this village located at the confluence of the Lot and the Truyère, you have to leave the rue du Tour-de-Ville to wander through the streets of the old town. Its creation dates back to the 13th century, when Henri II, Count of Rodez, decided to have a castle built there to control river traffic. The rue Basse, the passage de l'Eglise, the Impasse de l'Horloge and the Place de l'Eglise have retained a medieval atmosphere, with numerous passages underneath the houses. The town was fortified in 1357, and some traces of the covered way remain in what became the rue de l'Horloge.
