This small city was for more than two centuries one of the most flourishing textile manufactures in the region. One of the three entrance doors, in stone, supports a portal which tells a long story about the lives of the peasant workers who lived at that time: Honor at work. The city was born with the manufacture, created in 1670 on the private initiative of a manufacturer of Clermont-L 'Hérault, Pierre Baille, and under the impetus of Colbert. Every Monday Easter, Villeneuvette celebrates the Bridge of Love: This aqueduct brought water to the village and to the beals around. Legend says that lovers who cross the bridge that day, hand in hand, will marry in the year.
