Attested as early as 990, under the name Castro Morecino, the ancient village competed with the dolomitic rock until it was confused. Perched on a rocky spur, a century-old castle, probably built for the first time during frantic invasions, looks forward to the narrow streets and houses in the village. The church Sainte-Marie, built in the xiiith century, very redesigned, consists of a Polygonal choir preceded by a short nef of two spreads. The counter located near the entrance preserves the remains of a former building probably more imposing. A beauty, Mourèze offers its visitors streets and paved squares, stone facades, a presbytery and a fully restored bread oven.
