On one side the Thau lagoon, on the other the Gardiole massif, the Moure hills and a vast wine-growing plain: Gigean is nestled in a unique setting. This charming village is dominated by the famous abbey of Saint-Félix-de-Montceau (11th century), which is the starting point of a hiking trail whose highest point offers an exceptional view of the Thau lagoon. In the streets, one can admire here and there Louis XIII doors and imposing winegrowers' houses, witnesses of the local viticulture. The surrounding scrubland, made up of holm oaks, kermes, pistachio trees, terebinths, lentisks and myrtles, is a refuge for blackbirds, jays, buzzards, falcons and owls.
