Set on a hill, the fortified village overlooks the Angle creek, with a view over the Thau lagoon. A medieval village wrapped in ramparts that magnifies the past. Its circulade architecture is typical of the Languedoc region. We love to lose ourselves in the narrow streets, between the remains of the restored ramparts, the remains of the old castle and the many Louis XIII-style gates. Leaning against the Gardiole Massif, Balaruc-le-Vieux overlooks the end of the lagoon and occupies the site of an oppidum dominating the natural harbor below. From the Place du Truc, the view is splendid and the sunsets magical.
