The history of the commune dates back to the Middle Ages when, as a village surrounded by an enclosure, it is a possession of the abbey of Saint-Denis. Attached to the royal domain in the th century, the territory of Trappes was built to participate in the water supply system of the Château de Versailles. Since 1945, Trappes welcomes the Observatory of National Meteorology. A veritable green corner rich in 925 hectares of public green spaces, the municipality is today an attractive cultural and economic pole, which is undergoing a transformation of its urban development, particularly with the modernisation and renovation of its habitat.
