A municipality in the Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines conurbation, La Verrière has relatively little in the way of evidence of its early history. Originally, it was a locality of Mesnil-Saint-Denis. However, its name is mentioned in 768, when the seigneuries of Grande and Petite Verrière were given to the abbey of Saint-Denis. Marked by its contemporary history, and in particular by the presence of garden cities from the turn of the century, the town stands out from the 7 other communes in the area for its small size. Covering some 210 hectares, it is characterized by its cultural and associative dynamism.
