Maulette stretches across the valleys of the Vesgre, at its confluence with the Moquesouris and Sausseron rivers, and the Opton. It borders the town of Houdan, which it even surrounds from the northeast to the south of its territory. It comprises two hamlets: Thionville (since their merger in 1964) and Moquesouris. The history of this village was once linked to that of the Petau family, rightly ennobled as Petau de Maulette by Louis XV. They built the manor house opposite Saint-Pierre church, while occupying the building that is now the town hall. There's also a 16th-century château with two corner turrets.
