Located on the border with the Eure-et-Loir department, the small village of Dannemarie has the distinction of having its Champagne street split in two: one side in the 78 department, and the other in the 28 department! Formerly known as Dominica Maria, the village was part of the Montfort county and belonged to the Berthomier family from the 15th to 17th centuries. Its parish church, Sainte-Anne, is in ruins and has no special architectural features. However, in 1970, during a major clean-up operation, one of the 93 French "Dit des 3 morts et des 3 vifs" was discovered, a mural depiction of three corpses addressing three horsemen, popularized from the 14thcentury onwards.
