Located on the western edge of the Rambouillet forest massif, on the banks of the Vesgre river, the village of Bourdonné has been inhabited since prehistoric times, as evidenced by the polished stone axes found here. Attached to the Carnutes domain in Gallic times, it became part of the county of Montfort in the 14th century, then of the canton of Houdan in 1803. The town was occupied by the Prussians in 1815 and 1870. In terms of heritage, the town boasts the 13th-century Romanesque church of Saint-Martin and a 17th-century château classified as a historic monument. Today, the château belongs to the Aznavour family.
