In the Middle Ages, Aupec was a village of winegrowers, and the abbey of Saint-Wandrille ruled the area. But it was the presence of the Seine that gave the hamlet its impetus: its free port, located in a loop of the river, was not to everyone's taste, and it wasn't uncommon to see merchants - who didn't want to pay the toll between Aupec and Paris - unload their goods and continue by road. In 1595, Henri IV granted himself part of the village's territory to build the gardens of the Château Neuf de Saint-Germain. The commune of Le Pecq was not officially defined until 1875, with a surface area of 292 ha.
