Situated on a promontory that protects it from the flooding of the Seine, Croissy has retained its atmosphere and tranquility, which attracts tourists and Sunday strollers alike. The area flourished thanks to royal hunting. In the 18th century, there was a Merino sheepfold here, as well as extensive market gardening - Croissy was considered the capital of the carrot, which was intensively cultivated. Carrots are still celebrated here in September, with the traditional Fête de la Carotte. In the 19th century, Croissy became a popular spot for canoeists, with Maupassant, Renoir and Monet immortalizing its festive and popular atmosphere.
