Known as "Cuculosa" since the 8th century, Galluis was once part of the Saint-Léger-en-Yvelines castellany. In 1883, it became a commune in its own right following the detachment of La Queue from its territory. The châteaux of Galluis and Lieutel can still be seen today. The village is also home to two mansions: "Les Ormes" and the more modern "La Héderaie", once owned by actors Daniel Gélin and Danièle Delorme. Just outside the village, in the Lieutel woods, you'll find the canton's highest point (183 m altitude), where the ruins of an old windmill sit enthroned.
