Located on the Montfort-l'Amaury plain, La Queue-lez-Yvelines lies on the ancient Roman road linking Paris to Dreux: the Chemin du Roy or de Quarante Sous. Its territory is covered by the Quatre Piliers forest to the south, and the Rambouillet forest massif to the north. Of the lords of La Queue, Bernard de Prez is remembered for marrying a child of Louis XIV: Louise de Maison-Blanche, daughter of a chambermaid to Madame de Montespan. A commemorative marker reminds us that in 1944, the village was a staging post on the route of the Red Ball Express, a road convoy set up by the Allies to supply the forces of the Eastern Front.
