Muro owes its name to the old Moorish citadel, Muru Vecchiu, conquered in 975 by Avazeru. It's a lovely village, nestled high up in the Reginu valley, 12 kilometers from L'Île-Rousse. It embodies the Corsican soul, with its herds, centuries-old olive and prickly pear trees, oak and chestnut forests stretching to the foot of Montegrosso and, of course, its highlight, the Santissima Annunziata church. Narrow cobbled streets, mansions, vaulted passageways... Muro has preserved its authenticity and character. High above the village, you'll enjoy exceptional panoramic views of the mountains and the sea.
