Guarded by two ruined Genoese towers, Orcino and Ancone, Calcatoggio is a peaceful little village built on a hill. The village overlooks the Gulf of Liscia and is surrounded by olive groves. You can visit the parish church of the Annunciation and the restored Romanesque chapel of Saint-Nicolas. Most of the town's inhabitants were buried here until the Middle Ages. However, the notables preferred the former convent of Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume, reached after several hours' walk through the forest. Old houses, a pleasant Corsican village atmosphere, where a few holidaymakers take refuge to find peace and quiet just ten minutes from the beach.
