Pietrosella's origins date back to antiquity, as there are proven Roman sites: burials under tiles, but also traces of an ancient settlement in the ancient marshes. In the municipality of Pietrosella there is a magnificent Genoese tower dating back to 1596, known as the Isolella, which is listed as a Historical Monument. Its coastal window consists of a set of shores south of Ajaccio offering a landscape of bright and contrasting colors, with a view of the gulf in the distance. The Isolella tower dominates the charming little coves, including that of Cala Médéa, as well as the whole gulf of Ajaccio.
