The village has a beautiful unity of old facades, vaulted passages and beautiful porches. There is the castle of the Istria family, built in the 15th century, as well as a fountain known as Charles Martel's fountain. But Sollacaro stands out for its great past. The city was the capital of prehistoric Corsica. The town, close to the hamlet of Filitosa, besides its wealth, represents the whole evolution of the Torrean civilization, from the 6th to the 2nd millennium BC, that is from the pre-megalithic period to the most evolved menhir statues with precise morphology and carved weapons. It is an archaeological, artistic and cultural archetype.
