Of its Genoese past, Sartène has kept only a few vestiges, such as the échauguette tower and the town hall. To the south of the village, you can still see the San-Damianu convent, where the Catenacciu was isolated. The area around Sartène is also steeped in history. The south-east has been occupied since prehistoric times, as evidenced by the megaliths found throughout the region. On the Cauria plateau, in Fontanaccia to the south of the town, is a majestic dolmen, once fearfully referred to by villagers as "the Devil's forge"(A Stazzona di u Diavulu). It is surrounded by 25 menhirs, believed to be the victims of the Evil One.
