The territory of the municipality has been occupied since prehistoric times, since several objects dating from the Neolithic period have been found there, such as fragments of weapons and tools. The pottery found is relatively elaborate and some of it is engraved with symbols or decorated with mica. A large number of small cavities have been found in the rock, the only traces of a Neolithic village that stored part of its crops there. The granite houses are dominated by the ruins of Capraja Castle, which is believed to have been built in the 9th century. A beautiful seafront with the immense beach and the estuary of the River Liamone, which is dangerous in rough seas.
