Travel Guide Orto

Surrounded by peaks, the village offers a magnificent view of the needles of Monte Sant'Eliseo. Numerous hiking trails allow you to discover the surrounding area, including the path that leads to Lake Creno (or Crena). The area around the lake is very peaceful, and you can find a rare and protected species of drosera, a plant known for its medicinal virtues. The access road to Orto is also superb, and reveals an ancient village, with characterful houses, which seem as if carved out of granite. You can visit the church, but also the wall of the cemetery, whose stones come from the old chapel of San Cervona, of which nothing remains.
