VERTAIN MILL
Read moreA tower with tower and pivot wheat (the ensemble rotates on a central axis 45 tonnes), the mill of Vertain dates back to 1328 and has been classified as a historic monument. Burned in 1616 by war, it was rebuilt as we can see today. On the third floor, they are two rouets and two pieces of furniture that you discover, not without having climbed a sucker ladder before. Guided by volunteers from the Vertain Mill Association, the visit lasts 20 min at 30 min.

THE ABBEY OF MONT SAINT ELOI
Read moreLocated in the municipality of Mont-Saint-Eloi, 7 kilometres west of Arras, the abbey was built in the Middle Ages, instead of a former hermitage founded according to legend by Saint Eloi who would come to pray on the Mount in the th century. In the th century, the old Gothic buildings were destroyed and replaced by a monumental abbey of classical style, whose community of canons would spread across the region. But in the French Revolution, the abbey is closed, seized property and monuments demolished, apart from facade and two large towers. During the First World War, the geographical location of this site, overlooking the entire artesian campaign and visible kilometres to the round, makes it a strategic point of observation for the defense of Arras… but also a privileged target of the fire of the German artillery. A property of the Department of Pas de Calais since 2008, the remains of the abbey are the subject of a vast archaeological excavations campaign and a restoration programme.

THE MANOR HOUSE OF THE ESTRACELLES
Read moreCurrently under renovation and renovation. Listed in historic monuments, this farmhouse dates back to the th and th centuries. This manor is located in the ancient Marais marshlands, which is a very pleasant wooded site. At that time, he had a drawbridge on a weir which remains the oldest remnant. In 1629, the wing was built in square with its monumental Gothic fireplace in a decor of rinceaux wall paintings of inhabited foliage birds. From 1973 to 1979, the manor underwent long restorations. Unfortunately, in 2004, a fire was destroyed in almost all. It was sold by the Association Les Amis du Musée in Artois for the symbolic euro to regain its cultural vocation.
