THE DUNGEON OF THE LABORER

The keep of Labuissière is the only vestige of the castle built in ^XIIe century, which stood such as had left the History after many modifications until 1964, year of its destruction. It was built around 1310 by the countess Mahaut d'Artois in order to protect herself from invasions. It is twenty meters high and its staircase has no less than 94 steps. One can still distinguish the shield with the coat of arms of the lord and the vaults on sandstone columns which support the three meters thickness of the walls.
