One of the jewels of the industrial architecture of the North, presenting the economic and social history of the Roubaix region.
A former cotton mill, the Motte-Bossut factory is one of the jewels of industrial architecture in the North. It was commissioned in 1866 by Louis Motte-Bossut, a Roubaix industrialist who brought English know-how to the city, particularly in the area of fire protection, which was common in factories at the time. Closed in 1981, then rehabilitated in 1993, it now houses the National Archives of the World of Work, an essential place to better understand the economic and social history of the region. Visits are frequently organized.
