Le Channel is the cultural powerhouse of Calais. Promoted to the status of "Scène nationale" in 1991, the association took up residence in the town's former abattoirs. The renovation of these buildings in 2007 gave a boost to its programming, which combines circus, culinary arts, concerts, theater, street arts... These quality shows are intended to be convivial and festive before being intellectual. Since 1974, By has built a solid reputation in Lille. It is here that some famous artists (Dominique Sarrazin, Ronny Couteure…) have made their weapons. Isabelle and Jean Bouclet's puppet theatre company opened its doors and carries out more than a thousand performances per year, in the city or on the move for a 2-year-old audience. In years'time, this company has been a name and a place in the sun among French puppeteers. Set in an old building built by their care, this small company has a dozen versatile members who look after the design of the decor and puppets, stories and music. Some 150 performances are given each season and a travelling exhibition of puppets also awaits visitors. Production courses are organized for all ages.

At the Auditorium du Nouveau Siècle, the Orchestre National de Lille offers symphonic concerts of astonishing variety and quality, and welcomes the greatest international artists. With a program for young audiences (Famillissimo), flash concerts or concerts reserved for students, live film-concerts and open rehearsals, the Orchestra's mission to open up to all audiences continues. The Orchestra also travels regularly in the Hauts-de-France region, and every June organizes the Lille piano(s) festival.

The ideal place for an evening out with friends! This trendy venue is housed in a former spinning mill in Saint-André. The decor is a blend of American dining and the industrial heritage of the North. The vast brick and steel room opens onto a large terrace, which is very pleasant in summer. The beer is brewed on site in huge vats. Every month, 2 experimental beers are offered, and every 3 months, one of them is voted by customers to join the permanent range. Brique House also serves excellent homemade pizzas!
